Settlor : The Tinplate Company of India Limited - Makers of quality metal packaging material. A 70 years old Company.

Details : Tinplate Hospital began as a small dispensary, to provide first aid to the employees & family members of The Tinplate Company of India Ltd, in 1940. Dr. T.C. John was the first Chief Medical Officer of this hospital, which has gradually grown into a modern 210 bedded hospital with all basic specialties. Now it provides medical care of the highest order, to the families of several companies in Jamshedpur & the general public at large; in addition to the families of Tinplate Company of India Ltd.

With a view to further improve the facilities available in the Eastern part of Jamshedpur, the Dr. T.C. John Memorial Trust was formed. The proposed increase in services included an ICU, a Trauma Centre  A Non Invasive Surgical Unit, and a Blood Bank.

Aims & Objectives : To provide quality health care services to the general public at a reasonable cost and with personalised care. 10% of beds are reserved for poor patients.ICU and the Trauma Centre are now complete, and have started functioning since 1^st November 2000.

Timken Foundation, USA, has helped us establish the ICU through a grant of Rs. 65 Lakhs; and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai, has helped us establish the Trauma Centre for which we received aid of Rs. 35 lakhs.

We are now planning to start a Non-Invasive Surgical Unit.
